EPM handover office block to Thyolo Police

Eastern Produce Malawi (EPM) on Thursday handed over a fully furnished victim support unit office block worth K25 million to Thyolo Police Station aimed to end gender-based violence (GBV) in the district.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, EPM managing director David Reynolds said the company has zero tolerance for GBV.

He said: “Apart from establishing grievance policies and empowering women employees through education scholarships, the victim support unit symbolises our firm stance against Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the district.

“Through this facility, victims of GBV will have right to expect support and assistance to cope through the trauma.”

On her part, Commissioner of Police for South East Region Chikondi Chingaza who recieved the facility on behalf of the Malawi Police Service (MPS) said that this is the kind partnership which MPS expects.

“This structure is very crucial in prevention and management of Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases and we thank EPM management through you, Mr. Reynolds, the company Managing Director for building this facility at this police station,” she said.

Senior Chief Nchiramwera urged other stakeholders to follow EPM’s lead as they prepare to renovate and construct new units in the district.
